Peyton's 4th Birthday Dinosaur Party
6th Dec 2012

It makes a good match because I am obsessed with all things "Little Dance" so I can indulge my party planning gene. The invitation was sent out nice and early and was of course a Little Dance dinosaur design.
Firstly I wanted to make the outside of the house obvious to those attending to I hand cut and painted two mdf dinosaurs (which have since been donated my sons kindy) a few dino footprints and hung a banner over the door. On entry to the foyer guests where greeted with a paper macho tree and some inflatable dinosaurs purchased from the dinosaur corporation. I also borrowed a smoke machine from a friend that was remote controlled to give the illusion of entering another world. Then T-Rex footprints made from cardboard and stuck to the floor with contact showed the little guests the way to the outdoor party area.

For entertainment I sources a dinosaur jumping castle. I also made two activity stations. The first was where my 10 year old daughter applied dinosaur themed tattoos, known as "TRex Tattoo" to all the adults and kids alike. The second station was a Dino Dig made from a sandpit shell, small shovels and filled with plastic dinosaurs and dinosaur eggs. Without doubt this kept the kids the most occupied.
All the food was dinosaur themed at both a hot (Cretaceous Cafe) and sweet food (Dino Desserts) station. The Little Dance jellybeans were one of the big hits, along with the t rex watermelon. My favourite was the dino nests (chocolate crackles in little dance paper cups) and the fossil sugar cookies. The styling was complete by me, although special thanks goes to my mum for sewing the bunting :)

Dinosaur Train is Peytons favour show so i made the cake themed on that. I made the cake using chocolate buttermilk for the base and red velvet and vanilla layers for the volcano. The train itself which ran was obviously plastic/ mechanical but figures etc were made of sugar paste.
Lastly, we handed out gift bags which included sugar cookies topped with LD edible images and in the LD jute bags".
